DBT has long been the most empirically supported form of treatment for borderline personality disorder, but research and
practice have now demonstrated that the modality has strong clinical utility across a range of other conditions as well.
These valuable skills that have been shown to help clients rebuild their lives are easily taught by clinicians and learned by
clients, and contrary to original claims, are applicable across settings and populations. Guided by evidence-based
practice and moving beyond rote adherence to a manual, this online workshop focuses on applying the methodologies and
skills of DBT in customized and effective ways in your clinical practice, regardless of your setting.
Join internationally recognized personality expert Jeff Riggenbach, PhD for this practical, skills based session and take
home simple DBT skills to help even your most difficult clients manage their emotions more effectively and build lives more
Participants will be able to:
Explain how to use and how to not use validation to open the doors to change.
Apply dialectics to balance acceptance with change.
Describe at least two (2) key aspects that are required to conduct individual sessions in a way that manages short-term acuity.
Describe at least one (1) key aspect that is required to conduct individual sessions in a way that maximizes long term positive treatment outcomes.
