Workshop Description
Cognitive behavioral therapy is the most empirically supported treatment for multiple psychiatric diagnoses. It is widely considered the “gold standard” for treating various problems encountered by consumers of behavioral health services. Many trainings provide in-depth examinations of theoretical constructs, offshoot models, assessment instruments, conceptualization, and comprehensive treatment. All clinicians need this deeper knowledge. However, few pieces of training simply offer practitioners an arsenal of evidence-based strategies to use to combat a variety of clinical problems that keep clients stuck.
Leave this two-hour training feeling empowered and equipped with tools for your clinical toolbox to help clients who struggle with a variety of symptom sets that you can implement in your very next session!
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
-
Describe methods of socialization to the cognitive model in ways that elicit client buy-in and decrease dropout rates.
-
Identify three (3) types of cognitive interventions
-
Utilize at least two (2) behavioral activation activities to increase affect in depressed patients and enhance cognitive change.
-
Plan at least three (3) behavioral experiments with clients with phobias and other anxiety disorders to test assumptions and experientially fortify the internalization of new learning.
