Do you work with with clients who have been affected (or have been in a relationship)
with someone with narcissistic and/or BPD traits?
If so, this course is for you!
Join us and learn strategies to help your clients heal from
the aftermath of narcissistic abuse and chronic emotional volatility
Program Description
This integrated course examines how borderline personality disorder (BPD) manifests in attachment patterns and relationship dynamics, particularly through the lens of abandonment fears and self-sabotaging behaviors. It also explores the complex recovery journey for individuals healing from relationships marked by narcissistic abuse or chronic emotional volatility.
During this course, Dr. Fox will focus on giving therapists tools they can use with clients who’ve been in relationships with someone with narcissistic or borderline traits. This includes people who grew up with a narcissistic or BPD parent as well as those who were romantically involved with someone with these traits.
Drawing on clinical examples and evidence-based strategies, clinicians will learn how to help clients disrupt maladaptive cycles rooted in early attachment wounds and reinforced through exploitative adult relationships. Emphasis will be placed on restoring core identity, cultivating secure attachment patterns, and fostering autonomy through targeted therapeutic interventions.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
-
List at least three (3) relational patterns typical in BPD and how these contribute to insecure attachment.
-
Describe the psychological impact of narcissistic and antisocial abuse on identity development and attachment.
-
Apply at least two (2) strategies to help clients move from insecure to secure attachment patterns and from external validation-seeking to internal stability.
-
Use interventions that support clients in reclaiming self-worth, autonomy, and relational security post-abuse.
