Workshop Description
This one-day workshop provides a thorough and practical introduction to Imagery Rescripting (ImRs) for the treatment of PTSD. Participants will gain knowledge about the theoretical underpinnings, the empirical evidence, and the application of ImRs in clinical practice. This workshop will focus on hands-on learning through demonstrations, structured walkthroughs of the full protocol, and guided reflection.
Participants learn how ImRs fits within trauma-focused treatment models and also how it can be used alongside or in sequence with EMDR, for example when working with complex trauma, early interpersonal trauma, or cases where standard EMDR processing is hindered by high shame, loyalty conflicts, or blocked affect.
Participants will learn how to apply ImRs to adult clients with PTSD due to childhood and/or adult trauma and how to flexibly adapt the method to individual cases. This workshop also highlights similarities and differences between ImRs and EMDR in terms of target selection, emotional processing, meaning change, and memory updating, enabling EMDR-trained clinicians to make informed clinical decisions about when to use EMDR, when to use ImRs, and how to combine both approaches safely and effectively.
